Introduction
Basically, my second light novel, right after AdaShima, not counting any wbe novels and it’s honestly very nice and wholesome. I’m usually quite indifferent to incest, after all I’m not feet dood but coming from an angry german, this is a fun and “lighthearted” series. Although I didn’t get hooked immediately by the premise when I was hooked I devoured the last 3 volumes I read in like 2 hours each which is roughly double my standard LN reading speed.
Story
The start is albeit a bit slow but I think it was around the V2 mark where I was really hooked especially with the peak movie watching experience with Yomiuri and then Saki writing about her jealousy in her dialogue was just peak and made her character way more likeable cause might be a hot opinion but I am not into emotionless women
and her essentially throwing herself on Yuuta near the end of v1 was completely unexpected too. The story itself is simple and somewhat grounded in reality which Yuuta painstakingly mentions a dozen times each volume. That was my biggest turn off in the starting volumes, like I GET IT YUUTA real life siblings and step-siblings are not like the ones in anime says the protagonist of a LN like genuinely stop repeating it. I know he uses it as a rationale to not make hasty decisions and conclusions that could lead to misunderstandings (we still had misunderstandings because it was just like an anime/manga scenario…) genuinely that annoyed me. The slow build up to them realising their feeling until the kiss at the end at v5 is just
I’m actually glad rae made me read till v5 cause I would’ve just read till v3 and then given it an 8 just for Yomiuri
Characters
I really loved the yuuta and yomiuri interactions quite a lot, best girl truly. I like her enough that I compiled all the illustrations of her up until vol 5 into a makeshift “collage” that I just made today using my shitty skills
. Maaya is truly the best wing woman, if anything I think my least liked character was Yuuta himself
Both Fujinami and Kudo sensei were great additions, especially Kudo-sensei cause that halloween outfit is peak
Conclusion
Overall, I really enjoyed it. It is a tad slow at the start and here and there but the great characters justify it cause omg, characters that think?? That and well in a sense are slightly dense, well not dense but emotionally unaware (ahem saki ahem) but definitely not as dense as the average romance/harem mc which is a win for me. And they actually grow as people? Amazing, maybe I have just consumed too much slop (not maybe but definitely) but this one at least did a lot of things right
Score: 9/10
